  • Resources

We are dedicated to supporting parents and their families and know that sometimes our clients need more care from a qualified mental health and/or medical provider in their geographic location. We have compiled below a list of some resources that provide additional information or inpatient/outpatient services. We are committed to providing evidence-based care, and if more is needed, these are some of the top evidence-based treatment centers. (Please note that we are not responsible for the content or services of these resources and websites.)

  • In the San Francisco Bay Area

The Bay area is fortunate to have two of the leading child and adolescent eating disorder treatment and research centers, led by Dr. Jim Locke and Dr. Daniel Le Grange. They are long-time research collaborators and oversaw the randomized control trials evaluating the efficacy of Family Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (led by Dr. Locke) and Bulimia Nervosa (led by Dr. Le Grange) in adolescents.

  • United Kingdom

Family Based Therapy for Anorexia in adolescents, also known as Maudsley, originated at Maudsley Hospital. If you are in the UK and have a teen struggling with Anorexia Nervosa, they are an incredible resource.

  • Italy

Although Family Based Therapy (FBT, also known as Maudsley) is considered the gold standard treatment for adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa (and has been shown in research to help get teens with Bulimia Nervosa better faster than Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)), this latter approach, CBT, is a promising alternative if FBT is not an option. One of the centers in Europe that specializes in CBT for eating disorders, both for teens and adults, is in Italy. (We do not know this place personally, however we know of them from their research and conference presentations.)
